What Is Soyabeans?
Soyabeans come from Glycine max, a legume native to East Asia and now grown across the world for its high protein and oil content. West Africa has become a growing production region, with Niger, Nigeria, Togo and Benin each contributing beans grown mostly by smallholder farmers under rain-fed conditions. Harvested pods are threshed and sun-dried before cleaning and grading, and origin can affect protein content, bean size and moisture — which is why it matters when sourcing for a specific end use.
